Aldo R. Scalise

Aldo R. Scalise, age 93, of Clarion, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, June 25, 2026, at the Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, where he resided with his wife for the past four years. He was born on February 3, 1933, in Southern Italy. Aldo was one of six children of the late Francesco Scalise and Ermalinda Cortez. Aldo served in the Italian Army, where he learned to be a truck driver. He married the love of his life, Carmelina Scerbo, on June 3, 1961, celebrating their 65th Anniversary earlier this month. Aldo and Carmelina moved to Canada in 1961, where they resided for two years before settling permanently in Clarion in 1963. Aldo was a partner at Clarion Dry Cleaners Company until he and his wife decided to start their own business, A&M Dry Cleaners and Tailor Shop, in 1984. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarion and the Clarion Lions Club for many years. Aldo was a husband who loved one woman with unmatched passion: a father, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather. He was a soldier, mechanic, truck driver, carpenter, plumber, tailor, gardener, chef, winemaker, gunsmith, electrician, and the list goes on. Aldo was truly a jack-of-all-trades and a master of all. But above all, he was a hero to many. In addition to his wife, Aldo leaves behind his four sons, Frank Scalise and his wife, Elena, of Brighton Heights, Vince Scalise and his wife, Paula, of Marble, Aldo P. Scalise and his wife, Stacey, of Mars, and Bobby Scalise and his wife, Ingrid, of Maryland; seven grandchildren, Lilly Scalise of Oil City, Sara Scalise and her fiancé, Michael Pesci, of Clarion, Maria Scalise and her fiancé, Jonathan Rendon, of Marble, Mia and Enzo Scalise of Mars, and Roberto, Julia, and Giovanni Scalise of Maryland; and two great-grandchildren, Fiona and Rowan Robertson. He also leaves behind his brother, Tony Scalise, and his wife, Maria, of Italy, and two sisters, Rosa Scalise of Italy and Noreen Fragale of Florida; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Aldo was preceded in death by two brothers, Pasquale Scalise and Vittorio Scalise. The Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion has the distinct honor of serving the family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Jason Feigh presiding. Entombment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Mausoleum.
