Anastasia C. Osterried

Anastasia “Ann” C. Osterried, 91, of Cowell Avenue, Oil City, formerly of Clarion, died June 19, 2013, at the UPMC Northwest Hospital in Seneca surrounded by her loving family, following a recent re-occurrence of lymphoma. Ann was born May 21, 1922 in Snydersburg. She was the daughter of the late Francis C. Snyder and the late Elva M. Schmader Snyder. Ann was married on her birthday, May 21, 1947 to M. Edward Osterried at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lucinda. In earlier years, Ann enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, clipping coupons and refunding, and playing cards with family and friends. She and Ed had been members of the Fiddle-A-Round square dance club in Clarion. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. Ann was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. In addition to her husband, Ed, she is survived by four children, Thomas E. (Carol) Osterried of Lucinda, Robert J. Osterried (Donna Thornburg) of Clarion, Susann Osterried of Seneca, and Mary E. (David R. Jr.) Cyphert of Oil City; ten grandchildren, Dawn Kennison, Kevin Osterried, Mathew Osterried, Robert (Molly) Osterried; Brian (Michele) Osterried, David Osterried, Jeffrey Shay, Emily Shay, David R. Cyphert III, and Dylan Cyphert; and three great grandchildren, Zakkery Kennison, Kathryn Osterried, and Abigail Osterried. Ann is also survived by her three sisters, Norma Jean Heinrich of Clarion, Margaret “Peg” Bauer of Crown, and Lois Scott of Marienville; two sisters-in-law, Willavene “Whoopie” Snyder of Snydersburg, and Ruth Snyder of Lucinda; and a brother-in-law, David Bowen of Leeper. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Imelda “Med” Griebel and Phyllis Bowen; and seven brothers, Gerard “Pete” Snyder, Leon Snyder, William “Bill” Snyder, Kenneth “Ken” Snyder, Eugene “Hughie” Snyder, John “Jack” Snyder, and Francis C. Snyder, Jr., who died at birth. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion. Christian wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013, in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Clarion, with Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Church, presiding. Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
