Dennis L. Divins

Dennis L. Divins, age 77, of Clarion, passed away peacefully of natural causes early Friday morning, June 28, 2024 at his home. He was born on May 23, 1947 to the late Woodrow and June (Simpson) Divins at their home in Sligo. Dennis attended Union High School in Rimersburg and graduated in 1965. In high school he amassed many athletic accomplishments and earned a scholarship to Western New Mexico University, where he was a member of their football team. Dennis was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1972. He loved sports and was a loyal Steelers and Pirates fan who rarely missed watching a game. In his younger years, Dennis spent many summers playing softball. As he grew older, his love for sports transitioned into watching his children and grandchildren compete, playing cards, and making bets with his friends. Dennis also loved to hunt deer, waterfowl, and small game with his family. For many years, he owned a camp in Marienville with his brothers where many very special memories were made. In his final years, Dennis and his wife, Bridget, spent many winter months in Bradenton, FL, where he could keep an eye on the Pirates. While in Clarion, you could find him at the County Seat almost every morning having coffee with friends. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Bridget (Dolecki) Divins; his 4 children, Sarah Krugman and her husband, Brad, of North Ridgeville, OH, Dennis Adam Divins of Clarion, Mark Divins and his wife, Lara, of Shippenville, and Mary Lucas and her husband, Luke, of Seven Fields; and 8 grandchildren, Owen Krugman, Cooper Krugman, Logan Divins, Dylan Divins, Aidan Divins, Ridge Divins, Hunter Divins, and Ian Lucas. He is further survived by 2 sisters in-law, Patti (Richard) Divins of Sligo and Anne (Dolecki) Mahoney of White House Station, NJ, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Lastly, Dennis leaves behind his most loved dogs, Freya and Sol, who brightened all of his days. In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his older brothers, Thomas Woodrow “Toad” Divins and Richard Bruce “Mackey” Divins and his firstborn son, Jason Marc Divins. Family and friends will be received from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #066 of Clarion at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024 in the funeral home where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gene Hill, Pastor of the Sligo Church of the Nazarene, presiding. Interment will follow in the Clarion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Dennis’ honor to a charity of one’s choice.
