Elinor J. Over

Elinor J. “Joan” Over, 92, of Clarion, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on May 22, 1932 in Shippenville; daughter of the late Loy and Veda Swartzfager Kiser. Joan was married to Donald Over on October 27, 1951, who preceded her in death on July 31, 2009. She was a seamstress, making drapes for Bendix Homes, alterations for Weins in Clarion and she always made time for her family and friends who needed sewing done. Joan also worked as an EMT for the former Central County Ambulance Service. She was a devoted Christian who was ready to meet Jesus. Joan was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarion where she sang in the choir. Joan also attended the Zion Church of Clarion and Bethel Baptist Church of Sligo. She enjoyed reading and working on jigsaw puzzles, but most importantly, Joan loved her family and spending time with them. She is survived by her 2 sons, Joseph Over and his wife, Rita, of Clarion and Stephen Over and his wife, Mart, of Sligo; her daughter, Debra Lerch and her husband, Tucker, of Sligo; 6 grandchildren, Rikki Rex and her husband, Joe, of Beaver Falls, Renee Miller and her husband, Matt, of England, Katie Over of Sligo, Missy Raynor and her husband, Jeremy, of Virginia, Matthew Lerch and his wife, Nicole, of Butler, and Shawn Lerch and his wife, Whitney, of Glenshaw; and 8 great grandchildren, Landon and Lincoln Rex of Beaver Falls, Carsten, Torin and Awyn of England, and Eliana, Cole and Beau Lerch of Butler. Joan is also survived by her sister, Barbara Kehr and her husband, Harry, of Florida; her brother, Harold “Bugs” Kiser and his wife, Garnet, of Shippenville; 2 sisters-in-law, Doris “Dode” Stiltner of Sligo and Dorothy Over of Clarion; and a brother-in-law, Paul Bush of Wyoming; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Edith Bush and Judith Edgell. The Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion is handling the arrangements. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Clarion where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rob Hranicky, Pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church of Sligo, presiding. Interment will take place in the Reidsburg Cemetery.
