Harold E. Rapp Sr.

Harold E. Rapp, Sr., 82, of Clarion, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at his residence. He was born on May 22, 1942 in Marble; son of the late Leanus Andrew and Loretta Irene Hartle Rapp. Harold was a graduate of Shippenville High School. He then enlisted in the United States Army, serving for 2 years. Later, he decided to reenlist, serving in the National Guard for a year before he was honorably discharged. One of his greatest accomplishments while serving was being a bodyguard for the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley. Harold married the love of his life, Patricia A. Rankin, on October 12, 1963, who he is once again reunited with since her passing on August 16, 2024. He was a Local Union 449 Steamfitter out of Harmony for a number of years until his retirement and was also an active member. Harold was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarion. He was also a member of the Fryburg Sportsman’s Club and Knox American Legion Post #720. In his spare time, Harold loved being outdoors, especially musky fishing, hunting, mowing his grass, and riding around in his John Deer tractor and side-by-side. He also enjoyed dirt track racing and taking trips to the casino. Harold is survived by his 3 sons, Harold E. “Butch” Rapp, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Shippenville, Ronald W. Rapp and his wife, Tracy, of Clarion, and Timothy S. Rapp and his wife, Pam, of Clarion; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Glosser and her husband, Jeff, of Clarion; 6 grandchildren, Bradley Rapp and his wife, Ashley, of Cochranton, Cody Rapp of New Jersey, Johnna Rapp of Clarion, Colton Rapp of Clarion, Amanda Rapp-Schmader and her husband, JJ, of Lucinda, Holly Rapp of Clarion; and 4 great grandchildren, Noelle and Ember Rapp of Cochranton and Kailea and Jalen Schmader of Lucinda. He is also survived by his brothers, Frank Rapp and his wife, Bonnie, of Oil City, Dick Rapp and his wife, Ruth, of Tionesta, and Bob Rapp and his wife, Cindy, of Tionesta; his sister, Barb Buzard of Knox; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and loving wife, Harold was preceded in death by his son, Leanus Andrew Rapp, II; 6 brothers, Albert Rapp, Gerald Rapp, George Rapp, Charles Rapp, David Rapp, and Paul Rapp; and 4 sisters, Dorothy Caltagarone, Ethel Sharpe, Anna Snyder, and Kathryn Larrow. Family and friends will be received from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. Military Honors will be accorded in the funeral home at 3 p.m. by the American Legion Post #066 of Clarion. Mass of Christian will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Monty Sayers presiding. Inurnment will take place at the Miola Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Harold's honor to the Clarion County VA Office, 330 Main Street, Suite 109, Clarion, PA 16214
