Janet M. Dunlap

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Janet M. Bonnett Dunlap passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at her Highland Oaks at Water Run residence, just a week after celebrating her 88th birthday. Janet was born on January 25, 1937 at her parents’, Wayne and Elizabeth Shirey Myers, home in Reidsburg. She attended a one-room school house during her early years and graduated from Clarion Area High School. Janet’s desire to advocate for those who cannot speak out for themselves led her to Clarion State College. Life had other plans and Janet married Larry Bonnett with whom she had 2 sons. After their divorce, Janet raised her sons and supported them through her work as a supervisor at the former Jamesway. Janet found love again when she met Harry “Skip” Dunlap, who she married in 1981. They enjoyed wintering in Florida, riding Skip’s motorcycle, and the companionship they had with their German Shepard dogs. Janet and Skip owned and operated a ceramic shop and made crafts and candles. Their items could be found for sell in Cook Forest or at their booth at the Autumn Leaf Festival’s Craft Day. Janet also frequently went to nursing homes to share her crafting abilities and lead the residents in craft projects. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Clarion and the Clarion Eagles Club where she was past officer. Janet was a devoted Steelers fan and in her younger years, she loved to square dance. Janet also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also one who openly expressed her opinions. Janet leaves behind her son, Tim Bonnett and his wife, Lou Ann; her grandsons, Nick Bonnett and his wife, Stacey, and Cody Bonnett; and her much adored great-grandchildren, Jacoby Bonnett, Abby Bonnett, Kelby Bonnett, and Boone Bonnett; along with numerous cousins. In addition to her parents and loving husband, Skip, she was preceded in death by her son, Terry Bonnett and his wife, Nanette, and her cherished granddaughter, Lindsay Bonnett. The family would like to sincerely thank all who helped care for Janet. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion where a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Harold O. Jacobson presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Janet’s honor to the Tri-County Animal Rescue Center, 9562 Route 322, Shippenville, PA 16254.
