Janet L. McKee

Janet L. McKee, 75, of Hattiesburg, MS, formerly of Strattanville, passed away peacefully at her home on April 11, 2016. She was born in Strattanville; the daughter of the late William and Emma Hollenbaugh. Janet spent most of her earlier years in Strattanville. She moved to Mississippi with her husband Jesse McKee, geography professor at the University of Southern Mississippi, in the mid-60s’. Janet spent the early years of employment as a secretary in the College of Business at Michigan State University. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi and worked for 25 years as a secretary in the college of business at the University of Southern Mississippi before retiring. She was of the Methodist Faith and most proud to be a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. Janet loved her family and enjoyed cooking meals for special events. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening, and traveling. Janet loved Pennsylvania and its natural beauty. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jesse McKee, a daughter, Pamela Kelly, a son, Russell McKee and his wife Theresa, four grandchildren, Clinton and Kathryn Kelly, and John and Samuel McKee all of Hattiesburg, MS. Janet is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Dolby and her husband Lad of Strattanville and Dorothy Over of Reidsburg, a sister-in-law, Nanci Hollenbaugh Snyder of Clarion, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, William C. Hollenbaugh, a brother-in-law, Glenn “Windy” Over, and a nephew, Robbie Over. There will be a visitation at the Parkway Heights United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg, MS Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced in Clarion under the direction of the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, her family requests donations to be made to the Charity of your chose or the Human Society in her memory. There will be a visitation at the Parkway Heights United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg, MS Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced in Clarion under the direction of the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery.
