Kathleen C. Thompson

Kathleen C. “Katie” Thompson, age 87, of Clarion, passed away peacefully Friday evening, June 5, 2026, at Highland Oaks at Water Run. She was born on May 20, 1939, on the Ganoe family farm. Katie was one of twelve children of the late William E. and Cecelia Aaron Ganoe. She graduated from Clarion Limestone High School in 1957 and then Airline Training School in Minnesota. After graduating, Katie worked as a teletype operator for Capital Airlines in Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia, which later became United Airlines. She resigned from the airline when she became pregnant and stayed home to raise her children. Katie later went back to work as a secretary for Industrial Products in Langhorne until she retired. She married the love of her life, Richard D. Thompson, on April 13, 1961, and they shared over fifty-eight years together until his passing on November 6, 2019. Katie was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarion. Some of her interests included cooking, baking, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and planting flowers, especially cacti. Katie leaves behind her daughter, Theresa Lynn Boone and her husband, Dave, of Pennsburg; her son, Michael Albert Thompson and his wife, Sandra, of New Hope; five grandchildren, Jaclyn, Rachel, Christopher, Peter, and William; and her cherished great-grandson, Barron Michael. She also leaves behind her brother, Robert “Bob” Ganoe of Clarion, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Katie was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Louise Beichner, Dorothy Beichner, Bill Ganoe, Leo Ganoe, Clara Marie Leitch, Dick Ganoe, Ed Ganoe, Raymond Ganoe, Bernard Ganoe, and David Ganoe. Katie’s family would like to thank the staff at Water Run for the comfort, care, and love they have given her over the past four years. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on June 22, 2026, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Jason Feigh presiding. Entombment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Katie’s honor to the Clarion Hospital EMS, 1 Hospital Road, Clarion, PA 16214, Clarion Free Library, PO Box 663, Clarion, PA 16214, or the Clarion Forest VNA Hospice, 721 Perkins Road, Clarion, PA 16214.
