Kevin W. Fitzsimmons

Kevin Wayne “Fitz” Fitzsimmons, 63, of Lebanon, Virginia, formerly of Clarion, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2016 in Virginia. Fitz was born on October 20, 1952; the son of the late Donald C. and Ruth Marie Smith Fitzsimmons. He was a man of many talents and served as sergeant in the 458th Engineers Reserve Unit in Brookville. Fitz worked 17 years with Corle-Benn Auto Parts and later became a Nationwide Insurance agent for 25 years. Having a love for sports and outdoors, Kevin liked hunting and fishing. Fitz was the Defensive Coordinator for the Clarion Area High School football team for 15 years. He loved working with the players as they developed their skills. Baseball was one of his many skills and he was a former member of the Corsica Astros. Kevin was a Mason and served as Past Master at the Clarion Masonic lodge #277. He was a member of the Coudersport Consistory, the Zem Zem Shriners of Erie, and the Royal Order of Jesters #58 which he was a proud member and honored to be so. Kevin was a long time loyal Steeler’s and Pirates fan. He loved golfing and whether playing at Pinecrest or at the spring and fall Honest Harry Invitational golf outings, he was very competitive and was respected for his game. Being very skilled at the sport, he competed many times at the annual Myrtle Beach World Amateur Golf Tournament where on one trip he subsequently met the love of his life, Carole Fields of Lebanon, Va. Shortly thereafter, Kevin retired and moved to Virginia with his wife Carole. Although retired, Kevin quickly became a fixture of the Lebanon community by actively participating in town events and he, along with new friends, opened the Fitz Pawn Shop. Kevin leaves behind his loving wife, Carole; son, Matthew Fitzsimmons and wife, Tamera, of Shippenville, Pa.; daughter, Meredith Fitzsimmons of Louisville, Ky.; sons, Joey, Tyler and Charlie Fields, of Lebanon, Va.; brother, Bill and wife, Jan Fitzsimmons of Sellersville, Pa.; sister, Lori Fitzsimmons of Indiana, Pa; grandchildren, Austin, Emma and Kaelynn Fitzsimmons, of Shippenville, Pa.; along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and of course, his Honest Harry Golf buds. A genuine man of valor and character he will be dearly missed. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion and also from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in the Funeral Home. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 66 on Saturday Afternoon and the Masonic Lodge #277 of Clarion will hold a service at 6:30 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion and also from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in the Funeral Home.
