LeRoy E. "Spark" Armagost

LeRoy E. “Spark” Armagost, 85, of Lucinda, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at his home. He was born on April 16, 1939 in Brookville; son of the late Roy E. and Mable J. Wike Armagost. Spark was a 1958 graduate of Clarion Limestone High School. He enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country. Spark married the love of his life and best friend, Mary Ann Griebel, on August 12, 1961, who survives. They celebrated 63 years together this month. Spark was a heavy equipment operator for the former Colt Resource in Brookville and retired from the Operating Engineers Local 66 in Pittsburgh where he was a 65-year member. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge #101 and American Legion Post #066, both of Clarion and attended the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lucinda. Spark loved spending time with his family and telling them about his work stories, especially the Kinzua Reservoir. He also enjoyed gambling, especially scratch-offs, and sharing family history with everyone he knew. In addition to his loving wife, Spark is survived by his children, Jane Eisenman and her husband, Steve, of Leeper, Veronica Dehner and her husband, Keith, of Leeper, Brian Armagost and his wife, Dayna, of Ohio, and Amy Niemetz and her husband, Neil, of North Carolina; 8 grandchildren, Elisha Woods, Travis Dehner, Courtney Lauer, Amber Hughes, Jessica Moore, Taylor Armagost, Kirk Niemetz, and Nate Armagost; and 7 great grandchildren, Kylie Disney, Abby Lauer, Ella Lauer, Nate Hughes, Andy Lauer, Ryan Moore, and Janessa Moore. He is also survived by his sister, Cindy Bell and her husband, Randy, of Strattanville and his sister-in-law, Nancy Armagost of Corsica; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Spark was preceded in death by his step-mother, Shirley E. Leadbetter Armagost Seigworth, who helped raise him, his brother, Dave Armagost; his sister, Mary Beichner; and his brother-in-law, Ron Beichner. The Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion is handling the arrangements. There will be no public visitation and a memorial service will be held at a later date for his family. Inurnment will take place at the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
