Margaret N. Murphy

Margaret N. Murphy, 87, of Clarion, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the Clarion Hospital after a long illness. Born on May 23, 1926 in East Brady; she was the daughter of James P. and Margaret “Annie” Cannon McClaine. Margaret was a graduate of East Brady High School, where she was Valedictorian of her class. She was married on June 20, 1950 to Henry “Murph” J. Murphy. Margaret worked as the secretary at the Clarion Limestone High School from May 24, 1973 to April 6, 1990. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. Margaret loved watching old movies, especially Now Voyager, reading, and spending time with her loving family. She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Michael J. Murphy and his wife, Kathy, of Clarion, Patty A. Murphy of Johnstown, Dr. Kathleen R. Murphy of Shippenville, and James P. Murphy and his wife, Marcy, of DuBois; three grandchildren, Dr. Kelli Murphy of Williamsport, MD, Ryan Schlosser of Raleigh, NC, and Megan McGoron Esq. and her husband, David, of Bellefonte; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry “Murph” Murphy on April 12, 2006; infant son, Patrick; and sister, Stella Craig; beloved dog, Ashley; and beloved cat, Holly. Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion. Wake service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2014, in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014, at the Immaculate Conception Church of Clarion with Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Church, presiding. Interment will be held in the Cedarview Memorial Park Mausoleum in Strattanville. Special thank you to the staff of Clarion Hospital for their loving care in her final days and to the physical therapy department at the Golden Living Center in Clarion for never giving up.
