Ronald E. Ditz

Ronald E Ditz, 71, of Summerville, died Wednesday morning, August 10, 2011, at the Clarion Hospital. Born February 7, 1940, in Marble, he was the son of Raymond and Grace Schill Ditz. Ron was married on July 31, 1981 to the former Cheryll Hulings, and she survives. She was his wife for 30 years, his best friend, and his care giver. He was a graduate of University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business, and Clarion University. Ron was a former teacher at Clarion University of Pennsylvania and Robert Morris University. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. Ron was also a long time member of the VFW and Eagles 3807. He was involved with Clarion County Special Olympics Management team for 27 years and a volunteer at Clarion Hospital for 25 years. He was the father of Lynette (Nabal) Manai, of Brooklyn, NY; Jeffrey (Lorrie) Ditz of West Chester, PA; and Melissa (Jon) Proctor of Raleigh, NC. He was the grandfather of Jeff, Jr. and Samantha Ditz, and Rachel and Evan Proctor. Also surviving are brother, Raymond (Cheryl) Ditz of West Chester, PA; a sister, Anita Ditz of State College, PA; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Dan McClaine of Marianne Estates; a brother-in-law, Deryll Hulings of Bothell, WA; four nieces, Jennie (Anthony) Rivet of Pittsburgh; Jamie McClaine of Clarion; Jodie McClaine of Clarion; and Mandy Wilden of Eagle Mountain, UT; three nephews, Chris and Tyler Hulings of Redmond, WA, and Kyle Hulings of Portland, OR; and two great nieces, Ryan Olivia and Dylan Elizabeth Rivet of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion. Christian wake service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011, in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011, in the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion with Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Clarion County Special Olympics.
