Ruthel E Peterson

Ruthel E. Peterson, 89, of Clarion passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Clarion Hospital. She was born on July 7, 1926 in Mill Hall; the daughter of Brooks Alva and Ellen Matilda Batschalet Swartz. Ruthel was married on July 13, 1947 to Eugene A. “Pete” Peterson, who preceded her in death on May 20, 1984. She worked at Clarion Vending, Grandview Nursing Home, and for Dr. Thomas Foreman. She is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarion. Ruthel was also a member of the Easter Star, the Girl Scouts, Community Choir and Presbyterian Choir. She was very active in the Girl Scouts and was a troop leader for many years when her children were young. Ruthel had a good memory and was a family go to for information. She was a good friend to many, enjoyed yard sales with Jan, crossword puzzles, and puzzles. She is survived by her sons, Rick Peterson and wife Kathy of Knox, Allen Peterson and wife Robin of Clarion, and Lynn Peterson and wife Karen of Limestone, one daughter, Wanda Viselli and husband Angelo of Strattanville, a sister, Nancy Eiswert and husband Bob of Linden, thirteen grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren, and a very dear friend, Jan Lavely of Clarion whom the family appreciates all she has done for Ruthel. Ruthel is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Greg Peterson on August 1, 2003, her infant twin grandsons on July 9, 1976, her grandson, Chad Anthony on March 28, 2013, her great granddaughter, Laken Silvis on October 26, 2011, and her sisters, June Kapps, Fran McKean, Mariam “Mims” Martin, and Grace Mary Yocum. Family will receive friends from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday, January 2, 2016 in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home where Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm with the Rev. Bruce Wilson pastor of the Liberty Street Church of God. Interment will follow at the Cedar View Memorial Park in Strattanville. Memorials contributions can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Clarion, PA. Family will receive friends from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday, January 2, 2016 in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home where Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm with the Rev. Bruce Wilson pastor of the Liberty Street Church of God. Interment will follow at the Cedar View Memorial Park in Strattanville.
