Terry L. Wensel Sr.

Terry L. Wensel, Sr., age 66, of Strattanville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, January 1, 2026, due to injuries he sustained in an accident at his home. He was born on May 8, 1959, in Clarion to the late Mearl A. “Mike” and Lois M. Finefrock Wensel. Terry grew up in Sligo and attended Union High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army from 1980 to 1983, completing his training as an Eaglehorse in Fort Stewart, Georgia, and was stationed in Germany. Terry married the love of his life, Nancy J. Atkinson, on May 23, 1986, who survives. He worked as a truck driver, or as he would say, “professional driver”, for many companies throughout the years, retiring from Pilot this past March due to health issues. Terry was a member of the Clarion Eagles Club #3807, Clarion Moose Lodge #101, and Clarion American Legion Post #066. A fixer of all things, he was always there to help his children in any way he could. He had a passion for tinkering around his home - doing yard work or home remodeling. Terry also took pride in being a Troop 51 Clarion Scout Master while his son, TJ, was a Boy Scout in his younger years. In addition to his wife, Terry leaves behind his children, Keith Wensel and his wife, Megan, of Saint Marys, GA, Ashley Wensel of Limestone, and Terry L. “TJ” Wensel, Jr. and his wife, Caitlyn, of Lincoln, NE; two grandchildren, Laiken Wensel and Logan Wensel of Saint Marys, GA; his dog, Oreo; cat, Thumper "Bucky"; granddog, Amren; and grandcats, Aelin, Cedric, and Luna. He also leaves behind his siblings, Donald Wensel and his wife, Diane, and David Wensel and his wife, Donna, all of Sligo, and Esther “Es” Wensel and her husband, Ron Beichner, of Harriett Bluff, GA; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald A. Wensel, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Jacqueline Atkinson. Family and friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #066 at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Deacon Joseph Glover presiding. Interment will take place at the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Terry’s honor to the Boy Scout Troop 51 Clarion Camperships fund, 1212 C-L School Road, Summerville, PA 15864, to assist with camping opportunities.
