Yvette Santini

Yvette Santini, 88, of Pennsy Road, Sligo, passed away peacefully in the early hours Sunday November 22, 2009, at Brookville Hospital. Born May 27, 1921, in Bordeaux, France, she was the daughter of Germain and Yvonne Marguerite Lacape. She grew up on a small vineyard until her early 20s. Yvette moved to Paris during World War II and worked in a textile factory. This is where she met a young American soldier, Edward Simpson, and after 8 months they were married. She returned to America with Ed as his “war bride” and settled down on Baker Street, Rimersburg. Tragically, Ed was killed in a car accident on December 24th after 6 years of marriage. Yvette then married Elvio Santini on August 10, 1957. They moved to the Santini Farm on Pennsy Road where they raised a family and lived there all of their lives. The Santini’s were married for over 26 years. Elvio passed away on July 8, 1983. For the last 25 years, Yvette lived an active life of working, traveling, and driving a car up until she was 84. Yvette worked at the Archway Cookie Company for several years. She is known for having a beauty shop on Pennsy Road for over 40 years and being a master beautician. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, and entertaining family and friends. Yvette loved to travel back to France to visit extended family as well as hosting their travels to America. Mrs. Santini was a member of the St. Richards Church in Rimersburg and Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion where she attended mass for over 50 years. She had many friends at church and lived a faith filled life. Yvette is survived by her three children, Yvonne Foringer and her husband, Gary, of Sligo; Robert Simpson and his wife, Georgia, of Sligo; and Bryant Santini and his wife, Karen, of Chandler, AZ. She is also survived and affectionately knows as Meme by her eight grandchildren, Jamie Simpson and his wife, Jennifer, Bobbie Freeman and her husband, Kyle, Ryan Foringer and his wife, Kim, Jeremy Simpson and his wife, Dominica, Alisha Foringer, Natalie Foringer, Brody Santini, and Carter Santini. Yvette is also survived by and most proud of her seven great grandchildren, Denon and Madilyn Simpson, Nicholas and David Simpson, Madison and McKenzie Foringer, and Kyler Freeman. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and both husbands Edward and Elvio. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. Christian wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, in the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion with Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor of the Immaculate Church, presiding. Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
