Cecilia B. McCloskey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Cecilia B. McCloskey, 91, of Silver Spring, MD, formerly of Clarion, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at the Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD. Born July 15, 1922 in Limestone Township; she was the daughter of William and Barbara Huefner Donahue. Cecilia was married on June 17, 1947 to Thomas P. McCloskey, who preceded her in death on November 24, 1995. She was a homemaker. Cecilia was a former member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. She moved to Silver Spring, MD to be near her daughter following her husband’s death. She resided in a retirement community and later assisted living where she participated in and enjoyed many activities. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and returned to Clarion every year for her family reunion. She also enjoyed crafts and sharing her creations with family and friends. Surviving are three children, James McCloskey of Fisher, Scholastica (Ronald) Guziak of Rockville, MD, and David (Diana) McCloskey of Allison Park; six grandchildren, Samuel McCloskey of Pittsburgh, James McCloskey, Jr. (Amy) of Clairton, Bryan Guziak of Rockville, MD, Laura Guziak of Rockville, MD, Paul McCloskey of Allison Park, and Amy Boyle (Kevin) of Glenshaw; and five great grandchildren, Cheryl, James, Hunter, Logan, and Jessica. Also surviving are her brother Robert (Joan) Donahue of Clarion; a sister, Louise Dechant of Clarion; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four siblings, Agnes Siegel, Elizabeth Siegel, Marie Vasbinder, and Edward Donahue. Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Clarion, with Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Church, presiding. Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Clarion. Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Clarion.
