Donald 'Dan' Guthrie Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Donald “Dan” Guthrie, 78, of Liberty Street, Clarion, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at his daughter’s home. Born September 10, 1933, in Strattanville; he was the son of the late Albert and Blanche Bond Guthrie. Dan graduated from the Carson Long Military School in 1951. He was married on December 5, 1952 to the former Nancy Smathers, who preceded him in death on December 13, 1985. Dan was a truck driver. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion. Dan is survived by six children, Roxanne Morris and her husband, Danny, of Punxsutawney; Donald Guthrie Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Strattanville; Jim Guthrie and his wife, Jodi, of Pleasantville; Lori Reed and her husband, Les, of Strattanville; Ed Guthrie and his companion, Lee Alcorn, of Indialantic, FL; and Rick Guthrie and his wife, Cara, of Spring City, TN; eleven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Joe Guthrie of Ohio and John Guthrie of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Harold Guthrie and Donald Guthrie, a sister, Dorothy Snyder, and two granddaughters, Jill and Megan Rose. Family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012, in the funeral home with Rev. Harold O. Jacobson, pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion, officiating. Interment will be held in the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
