Donald L. Rankin

July 20, 1932 - February 6, 2016

Donald L. Rankin, 83, of Clarion passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at his home. He was born on July 20, 1932 in Clarion; son of Albert Leroy and Olive Pearl Frampton Rankin. Donald graduated from Clarion Limestone High School. He married Eugenia “Jean” Glenn on March 3, 1956, who preceded him in death. Donald worked for Owen’s Illinois Glass Plant for 40 years. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Donald was a member of the New Rehobeth Greenville Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #277, The Erie Shrine in New Castle consistory, a past member of the Clarion Lions’, and a member of Knight Cruisers Car Club. Donald was an avid Nascar, Dirt modified, and sprint car fan. He liked to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Donald Loved his old 49 Dodge Coronet and showing it at the local car shows. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Donald is survived by a daughter, Paula K. Rankin of Hayward, CA, a son, Donald A. Rankin and wife Joanne of Clarion, his grandchildren, Tyler J. Rankin and wife Crystal of Oakridge, Nicholas Q. Rankin and Joshua L. Rankin of Clarion, and a great grandson, Braiden J. Rankin of Oakridge. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the New Rehobeth Greenville Presbyterian Church where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Dietrich, pastor presiding. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the New Rehobeth Greenville Presbyterian Church where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Dietrich, pastor presiding. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
