Edward Jack Cyphert Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Edward Jack Cyphert, 77, of Clarion, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, following an extended illness in the Golden Living Center in Clarion. Born April 10, 1935 in Strattanville, he was the son of Edward M. and Gwendolyn P. Sherman Klepfer Cyphert. Jack attended Clarion Area School. He also attended the First United Methodist Church of Clarion. He was a lifetime member of the Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Mason of Michigan, Charlotte 120. Jack started working on the pipeline at the age of 15 years old. Later he had various jobs including Tionesta Sand and Gravel, and General Motors for 8 years in Michigan. He was married to Erma Jean Bigley Schmader on Sept. 10, 1953. His second wife was Vianna Brown Hummell who he married in 1976. He then married Carole Ochs from Brookville, who he married in 1994. He is survived by a stepson, Robert C. (Karen) Schmader of Hastings, Michigan to whom he raised as his own and a daughter, Gwendolyn Jeanne (Jason) Dieter of Charlotte, Michigan. He is also survived by five stepchildren, Charles (Patty) Hummell of Kings Mountain, NC, Ann Magoon of Hastings, Michigan, Dan (Kelly) Hummell and Perry (Jessie) Hummell of Clarion and Eddie (Sherri) Hummell of Kentucky; and 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren complete his family. He is survived by eight brothers and sisters, Jule Lander of Madison, Ohio, Donald (Marie) Cyphert of Leeper, John (Betty) Cyphert of Lake Lucy, Joan (Russ) Lander of Shippenville, David (Bonnie) Cyphert and Gary (Shirley) Cyphert of Clarion, Thomas Cyphert of Dubois and Ron (Georgean) Cyphert of Hawthorn; and two sisters-in-law, Carole Cyphert of Miola and Dorothy "Chook" Klepfer of Clarion. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Pat Denslinger. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Erma; his second wife, Vianna; a son, Steven Randall Cyphert; an infant son; four brothers, James Klepfer, Harold V. Cyphert, Howard Klepfer, and Kenneth Gene Cyphert; a sister, LaRue Klepfer McLaine; two brothers-in-law, Joseph H. Lander and Richard S. McLaine; and two sisters-in-law, Maryanna Cyphert and Virginia Klepfer. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in the funeral home with Pastor Randy L. Evans, Clarion Forest VNA Hospice Chaplain, and Rev. Deryl K. Larsen, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery.
