Louella W. McElhattan

Louella W. McElhattan, 92, formerly of Clarion, died Saturday, August 29, 2009, at the McKinley Heath Center in Brookville following a period of failing health. Born May 1, 1917, in Clarion Township, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Blanch Wheeler Showers. Mrs. McElhattan graduated from Sligo High School in 1936. She was married on June 17, 1938, in Tionesta, to John A. McElhattan, who preceded her in death on September 22, 1986. In her earlier years, Mrs. McElhattan had worked at the Clarion Restaurant and then for the Servamation Co. at the Clarion State College, now Clarion University, until her retirement. She has been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion since 1951 and was at large member of the United Methodist Women Group. Surviving are three sons, John McElhattan of Lacey, WA; Don McElhattan and his wife, Donna, of Manassas, VA; Jeff McElhattan and his wife, Karen, of Rimersburg; one daughter, Gay Wujs and her husband, Hub, of The Villages, FL; five granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Irene Showers of Erie and numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her oldest son, Howard; her only grandson, James; brothers, Charles, Harry, and an infant; and four sisters, Marcella Ace, Ida Showers, Faye Banner, and an infant. There will be no visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at the Clarion Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion.
