Nellie Pauline Mechling Cogley went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 10, 2017 at McKinley Health Center, Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville where she resided since 2011. She was born on May 10, 1918 in Cowanshannock Township, Kittanning and just celebrated her 99th birthday with family and friends. She was the oldest of seven children of the late James Kelly and Maria Hodgson Mechling. Nellie was married on May 15, 1937 to Beryl Cogley who went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 2, 2003. Her beloved husband, Tom called her “Walleye”. She was a longtime member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church where she was active with the Ladies Missionary Group. Nellie loved and enjoyed being a good homemaker, she was known for her homemade candies, pastries, and buns. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, loved to go fishing, most of all she loved and cherished spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Robert Cogley and wife Mary Ann of Clarion, Jeffery Cogley and wife Kathie of Transfer; Three grandsons, Michael Cogley of Clarion, Mark Cogley of Pittsburgh and James Cogley of DuBois; four great grandchildren, Heather Cogley of Brookville, Brianna Cogley of Punxsutawney, Austen and Maia Cogley of DuBois and three great- great grandchildren, Colton Hughes of Punxsutawney, Ella and Ava Plyler of Brookville. Nellie is also survived by a sister, Peg Calano and a brother, James Mechling and wife Jean all of Kittanning. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter Linda Lee Cogley, three sisters, Lois Hill and twins Maude Crawford and Salome Sheasley and a brother, Kelly Mechling. Family will receive friends Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. Additional visitation will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 925 Oakwood Drive, Clarion. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church with the Rev. J. Ray Baker, WRC Chaplin officiating. Interment will be at the Kittanning Cemetery.
