Richard A. “Dick” LaVan, 80, of Shippenville went home to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by his family Sunday evening, November 4, 2018 at his home. He was born on February 5, 1938 in Knox; son of the late Audley W. and Flora Kathryn Bishop LaVan. Dick married Marie C. Wagner on February 7, 1959, who survives. He was a retired truck driver. Dick was a Veteran of the US Army, serving from 1955 to 1958. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Shippenville. Dick is survived by his loving wife, four children, Karen M. Hartle and her husband Bill of Lucinda, Brenda J. Armstrong and her husband Bob of Clarion, Rick LaVan of Cape Coral, FL, and Kathy E. Bauer and her husband Greg of Shippenville, a special friend and uncle, Paul Lauer of Shippenville, eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Robert, Edward, and Chuck, two sisters, Nancy Herring and Donna LaVan, an infant sister, Jeanie, and a son-in-law, Ken Snyder. There will be no public visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Cornerstone Church in Shippenville with Pastor John Green, presiding. Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Dick’s name to the Cornerstone Church building fund, 3655 East End Road, Shippenville, PA 16254 or the Clarion Forest V.N.A. Hospice, 271 Perkins Rd, Clarion, PA 16214.
