David R. Cyphert Sr.

David Robert Cyphert, Sr., age 86, passed away at his home in Shippenville on January 3, 2026. He was born on August 5, 1939, in Tylersburg, to the late Edward M. and Gwendolyn Sherman Klepfer Cyphert. Dave was respectfully known as “Pawp” by his family and friends. He worked several jobs during his life, including Tionesta Sand and Gravel, Seidle’s Body Shop for thirteen years, Glacial Minerals for seventeen years, and pipelining with Utility Construction and Skibek Pipeline until his retirement in 2001. He also co-owned and managed the Parke Terrace Court in Clarion until 2014. Pawp loved his family more than anything, including all his nieces and nephews. Dave enjoyed NASCAR racing and looked forward to early morning meet-ups for coffee with his buddies at Sheetz, County Seat, and VFW. He married the love of his life, Bonnie E. Curll, on March 27, 1959, sharing sixty-three years until her passing on September 21, 2022. Pawp is survived by his children, Lisa (Cut) McClaine of Clarion, Kim (Crock) Smith of Distant, David (Mary) Cyphert, Jr. of Clarion and Barbie (Dave) Raybuck of Lucinda; eight grandchildren, Kristen (Anthony) Driscoll, of Monroeville; Chad Schmader of Pittsburgh, TJ (Larissa) Carnahan of Strattanville, Mackenzie (Garrett Carlson) Smith of New Bethlehem, David (Nicole) Cyphert, III of Pittsburgh, Dylan (Taylor)(Baby girl) Cyphert of Emlenton, Kate (Cory) Wolbert of Lucinda, and Corbin Raybuck of Denver, CO; nine great-grandchildren, Kennedi, Jaxon and Cade Driscoll, Kayden and Kowen Carnahan, Leon Carlson, and Chase, Kree, and Dane Wolbert. He was extremely excited about great-grandbaby number ten arriving in July 2026. Also surviving is his special friend, Cecelia Schill, and beloved fur baby, Sophie. Dave is further survived by his three brothers, Donald (Marie) Cyphert of Tylersburg, Thomas Cyphert of Treasure Lake, and Ron (Georgean) Cyphert of Hawthorn; two sisters-in-law, Betty Cyphert of Lake Lucy and Carole Cyphert of Clarion, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, along with their spouses, Harold Cyphert, LaRue and Dick McLaine, Huck and Chook Klepfer, Jim and Ginger Klepfer, Jule and Joe Lander, Jack and Erma Jean Cyphert, Vianna Hummell Cyphert, S. John Cyphert, Joan and Russ Lander, Gary and Shirley Cyphert, and Kenneth Cyphert and a sister-in-law, Maryanna Cyphert. Pawp’s family would like to thank all of those who have reached out to him during his brief illness. He truly enjoyed all the FaceTimes, text messages, phone calls, and visits. Even though he will be greatly missed, we have peace and comfort knowing that he is rejoicing with Mom now and all family and friends who have preceded him. Family and friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. Additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarion, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jodie Smith and Dave’s nephew, Matthew Higgins, officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Clarion Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made in Dave’s honor to the Clarion Forest VNA, 271 Perkins Road, Clarion, PA 16214.
