Elva Kay Fryer

Elva Kay Fryer, 85, of Strattanville, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, August 29, 2024 in the comfort of her own home. She was born on March 14, 1939 at home in Corsica; daughter of the late Perle L. Walter Sr. and Nettie Faye Rankin Walter. Kay was a 1957 graduate of Clarion Limestone High School. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Edward W. Fryer, on August 31, 1955, who preceded her in death on January 21, 2020. Together they had 3 children, Deborah, Edward, and Patricia. Kay worked at various meat markets throughout her life and retired from the former Mike’s Comet in Brookville. She was a member of the Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Corsica. Kay enjoyed spending time with her family, golfing with her brother and sister, PL and Glennie, boating on the Clarion river, playing bingo, reading, and gambling. She also loved her dog, Molly. Kay is survived by her son, Edward D. Fryer and his wife, Trudy, of Strattanville; her daughter, Patricia F. Renninger and her husband, Steve, of Corsica; a son-in-law, Jack Smith of Fisher; 6 grandchildren, John W. Smith and his wife, Steph, of Fisher, Steven E. Renninger and his wife, Maria, of Limestone, Joey N. Bailey and her husband, Marc, of Hazen, Patrick R. Renninger and his wife, Jill, of Brookville, Joshua D. Fryer and his significant other, Brooke, of Strattanville and Alexandria J. Fryer and her significant other, Sarah, of Pittsburgh; and 10 great grandchildren, Braden Smith, Karley Renninger, Riley Renninger, Kayla McHenry, John McHenry, Hunter Bailey, Kylie Garvey, Chloe Garvey, Brycen Renninger, and Greyson Ananea. She is also survived by her sisters, Glendora Campbell and her husband, Wayne, and Blue Hannold and husband, Robert; her brothers, Perle Walter, Jr. and wife, Martha, and Thomas Walter and wife, Carol; and a sister-in-law, Jean Knapp; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Kay was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah K. Smith; 2 sisters, Dorothy Weyant and Linda Wamsley; and 5 brothers, Floyd Walter, Lester Walter, Ronald Walter, Richard Walter, and Roger Walter. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion where funeral services will follow at noon with Rev. James Dietrich presiding. Interment will take place at the Pisgah Presbyterian Cemetery.
