Eugene A. Seitz

Eugene A. Seitz, 84, of South Second Avenue, Clarion, died Friday, June 18, 2010, at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville. Born April 28, 1926, in Lucinda, he was the son of Lawrence A. “Dick” and Emma M. Kleck Seitz. Mr. Seitz was married on June 11, 1953 to the former Goldie B. Myers, who preceded him in death. He then married the former Joyce Travis Steiner on August 30, 2003, and she survives. A veteran of WWII, he served in the Army from 1944 to 1946, where he received the Combat Infantry Badge. Mr. Seitz retired as a postal clerk after working for over 30 years in Clarion and Oil City. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. Mr. Seitz enjoyed playing golf, cards, and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Brian E. Seitz of Clarion; his daughter, Patricia Spradlin and her husband, Tim, of Poquoson, VA; three step-children, Debra Aaron of New Bethlehem; Pamela Hawk and husband, Dave, of Corsica; and Carla Defelice and husband, P.J. of Shippenville; two grandchildren, Rachel and Leah Spradlin of Poquoson, VA; and five step-grandchildren; and mother-in-law, Alberta Travis of New Bethlehem. Also surviving is brother, Harold Seitz and his wife, Evelyn, of Clarion; sister, Dorothy Neely of Meadville; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond “Min” and Francis Seitz. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2010, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. Christian wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2010, in the funeral home. Military honors will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, in the funeral home accorded by the American Legion Post #66. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion with Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Church, presiding. Interment will be held in the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
