Glenn A. Over

Glenn “Windy” A. Over, 70, of South Reidsburg Road, Sligo, died Thursday, September 26, 2013, at his home. Windy arrived in this world on December 22, 1942. He was the son of Harold and Arveda Elder Over. Windy attended Clarion Area High School where he proudly wore the #42 jersey for the Clarion Bobcat Football Team. In 1961, they were undefeated and Little 8 Conference Champions. After high school, he was the co-owner of Over Dairy Farm for 6 years. He then gave his half of the farm to his brother and went to work at the Owens-Illinois Glass Plant, where he worked in the decorating, warehouse, and forming departments. Windy retired from the Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in 2005 with 40 years of service. He also had a small construction/backhoe business he kept busy with on the evenings and weekends. On June 27, 1964, he married the former Dorothy I. Hollenbaugh in Jamestown, NY. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage and were blessed with two children. Windy lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed anything that would go fast; cars, motorcycle, snowmobiles, four wheelers, and waterskies. He also enjoyed elk hunting trips out west with his friends the “Elkaholics” and a successful trip to Canada for caribou. Most of all, he enjoyed hunting with his grandsons. Windy, Dot, and their golden retriever, Bailey, enjoyed spending the winters in Florida. They also enjoyed going to the NASCAR races. Windy loved going to antique tractor pulls with is antique International M. Windy was an anxiously waiting the birth of his first great grandchild. Windy will also be sadly missed by his loving family and numerous friends, but will be fondly remembered for his generous heart. He was always eager to lend a hand to anyone in need. He will also be remembered by is friendly phrase, “Hey boy, let me show ya how to do that.” In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by his daughter, Kathy Burkhardt and her husband, Rod, of Lucinda; two grandsons who are serving with the United States Marine Corps, CPL Casey Burkhardt and his wife, Brianna, of Camp Pendleton, CA, and LCPL Corey Burkhardt of Twenty-Nine Palms, CA. Also surviving are three brothers, Ron Over of Sligo, Carl Over of Curllsville, and Vern Over Sr. of Sligo; three sisters, Gladys Taylor of Sligo, Louise Kifer of Sligo, and Doris Stiltner of Sligo; and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robbie Over; a sister, Thelma Benn; and a brother, Donald Over. Family will receive from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2013, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion; and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, Clarion, with Rev. Dr. Deryl K. Larsen, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be held in the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville. Memorials and donations can be made to the Clarion Forest VNA Hospice, 271 Perkins Road, Clarion, 16214; American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh PA 15205; or the First United Methodist Church, 600 Wood Street, Clarion PA 16214. Family will receive from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2013, at the Robert V.
