Hurman L. Donaldson

Hurman L. Donaldson, age 74, of Tionesta, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, July 14, 2026, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness. He was born on November 29, 1951, in Punxsutawney. Hurman was one of three children of the late Herbert and Bonnie Yeater Donaldson. Following graduation from Keystone High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge. Hurman married Sylvia McMaster on July 23, 2011, and they shared almost fifteen wonderful years of marriage. He had a strong work ethic and worked as a heavy equipment operator for C&K Coal Company in Clarion for over fifteen years. Hurman also transported the Amish community throughout the years, where he made lifelong friendships. He was Methodist by faith and a member of the Knox American Legion Post #720 and Clarion American Legion Post #066, where he also served on the honor guard for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion Riders of Clarion and the Fryburg Sportsman’s Club. Hurman was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, mowing his grass, hunting, and fishing. Above all, he was a family man and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of strength for his family. His greatest joy was the company of his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Sylvia, he leaves behind his six children, Christopher Donaldson of Clarion, Tammi Davis and her husband, Brandon, of Strattanville, Jacob Rumbarger and his wife, Shannon, of Rimersburg, Rebecca Bailey and her husband, Brian, of Maryland, Matthew Vasbinder and his wife, TJ, of Clarion, and Erica Bunner and her husband, Carl, of Virginia Beach; his bonus son, Michael Penman of Emlenton, whom he considered his own; eighteen adored grandchildren; and his best friend, Dave Jordan and his significant other, Bonnie. He also leaves behind his brother, Scott Donaldson, and his wife, Mary Jo, of Sligo; his sister, Karen Jordan, and her friend, Gerald Stitt of Rimersburg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion has the distinct honor of serving the family. Per Hurman’s wishes, there will be no public services. Cremation care has been entrusted to the RV Burns Crematorium, Inc.
