James Herman Schwab

James Herman Schwab, 76, of Sligo, passed way in Bartow, Florida, on Friday, January 25, 2013. Born on February 9, 1936, in Punxsutawney; he was the son of the late Rev. Charles Mervin and Emma Hetrick Schwab. He was happily married for 53 years to the former Judy Shook, who survives. Herman worked 40 years for C & K Coal as a supervisor and equipment operator. He was a member of the Liberty Street Church of God in Clarion, and attended the Spirit Lake Community Church in Florida during the winter months. He and his wife have spent the past nine winters with friends at the Good Life RV Resort in Bartow, Florida. Herman was also a 33 year member of the Clarion County Camping Club of Cook Forest, serving many years on the board for the club. Herman loved spending time with his family and friends, tinkering in his garage, camping, and talking about his experiences as a coal miner. Some of his favorite times were watching his grandchildren play sports and school activities. He was an avid sports fan, striving hard not to miss a Pirates or Steelers game. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Eric Schwab and his friend, Robyn, of Clarington, and Charles Schwab and his wife, Brenda, of Sligo; and two daughters, Beth Miller and her husband, Rob, of Lancaster, and Lisa Horton and her husband, Jeremy, of Sayre. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Stephanie Schwab Luke and her husband, Brock, Tyler Schwab, Kevin Schwab, Brianna Schwab, Jonathan Miller, Joshua Miller, Nathan Miller, Brayden Horton, and Gabriel Horton; and one great grandson, Kellan Luke. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Liberty Street Church of God, 240 Liberty Street, Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Liberty Street Church of God with Pastor Bruce Wilson, pastor of the Liberty Street Church of God, officiating. Interment will be held in the Sligo Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the building fund of the Liberty Street Church of God, 240 Liberty Street, Clarion PA 16214.
