Lynn M. Hepfl

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Lynn Marie Hepfl, left us all too suddenly on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Daughter of the late Edward Lester and Patricia Jean (Newell) Weidner, Lynn was born on June 23, 1956 in Clarion. She was the middle daughter of three girls, and grew up spending time at her dad’s Main Street homestead, Weidner’s Newsroom. Lynn attended Clarion Area High School, graduating in 1974. She recently attended the 50th Class Reunion - enjoying catching up and sharing memories with her classmates. Following high school, Lynn attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a degree in Accounting in 1978. She was then married to James Arnold Hepfl, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, on September 23, 1978, who survives. Lynn spent most of her professional career at Clarion University, starting in 1990 and working until June 24, 2016 - retiring the day after her 60th birthday. During her twenty-six-year span at CUP, Lynn worked in both the International Studies and Honors Program divisions. She loved her work, her co-workers and the students with whom she became very close. Following her retirement, she remained close with Hallie, Linda, Brent, Nathan and many others from her CUP family. During this same time, and while Adam and Amanda were in school, Lynn served on the Clarion-Limestone School Board for 20 years, and was instrumental in the renovation/expansion project that included a new Library at Clarion-Limestone High School. All those who knew her, or just talked to her once, could see that Lynn was incredibly full of life - boisterous, joyful, energetic and loving. She was a voracious reader, loved exploration and learning and enjoyed world-wide travel with both student programs and CUP and, more than anything, “Sister Cruises” with her younger sister, Pam, who was her very best friend and got her into the most trouble. You could find Lynn and Jim riding their bikes locally on the Route 66 Rails to Trails, at the Pizza Pub with Cathy and John, or at any local football, volleyball, basketball or baseball games for their grandchildren year-round. Lynn was their biggest fan no matter what they did! During her mother’s very long life, Lynn was a daily caretaker for Pat - making time to enjoy lunch or just sit and visit with her mom. Lynn famously celebrated every birthday and every holiday with fervor - coordinating her nails with a holiday theme and always singing Happy Birthday to her grandkids. Her famous sugar cookies, big, warm hugs and desire to help, in any way, will forever be missed by those that loved her. She helped to raise a community in Limestone - always seeming to know the trouble everyone had gotten into, but never turning anyone away from her house. You could count on her to scold you, and then tell you not to leave…and no one was allowed to leave without a hug. In addition to Jim, Lynn is survived by her son Adam (Erin) of Roseville and daughter Amanda (Dave) of Sykesville. Lynn was blessed with five grandchildren who filled her heart - Charlie, Corinne and Connor Hepfl and Caitlyn and Madelyn Parker. Lynn is survived by her sister Pam (Greg) Tabler of Columbus, Ohio, who she absolutely treasured, her cousin, Norma Kooman, and her beloved sisters and brothers through marriage - Linda (Wes) Summerville, Cathy (John) Barr, Pat Girt, Diane Myers, Steve (Michelle) Hepfl and Donna (Bobby) Smith. She was “Aunt Lynn” to Ashley, Natalie, Rebecca, Rachel, Brian, Rick, Curtis, Derek, Amy, Nick, Megan, Ryan and Jessica. Her surviving family members also include Jody Taylor, who was like a sister to her, and Lynn’s beloved Jeanne (Bean). She deeply loved each of her many cousins, nieces and nephews - whether near or far. There’s no possible way to list the number of very significant, surviving friends - Lynn seemed to know everyone and was truly blessed to have built these countless and wonderful friendships over the years. Lynn was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ed and Pat Weidner, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Betty Hepfl. Family and friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in the funeral home with Rev. Harold O. Jacobson presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lynn’s honor to the Route 66 Rails to Trails, to help keep and beautify the trails that she loved, or to the Limestone Township Volunteer Fire Company, whose emergency services cared for her at the end of her life.
