Mary C. Yunker

Mary C. “Cathy” Yunker, 60, of Leeper, passed away peacefully Friday evening, April 4, 2025 at her home following a strong 6-year battle with cancer. She was born on March 1, 1965 in Leeper; daughter of the late Calvin Wesley Byers and Nora Rebecca Kerns, who survives and resides in Clarion. Cathy was a lifelong resident of Leeper and a graduate of North Clarion High School, where she later drove bus for and loved seeing all the children daily. Cathy married Ralph Yunker on November 27, 1990, who survives. She was a well-known AKC Breeder of prized Dobermans, owning 6 herself, Rusty, Spike, Diamond, Skye, Cinder, and Toby. Cathy dedicated much of her life to training all of her dogs who now have hundreds of awards, metals, and titles. Her most cherished times in the past 8 years were spending time with her grandchildren who she loved to the moon and back. Above all, Cathy was an extraordinary woman with copious amount of talents, skills, and strength. In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by her 3 sons, Jonathan Byers and his wife, Breanna, of Clarion, Joshua Yunker and his wife, Kirsten, of Pittsburgh, and Michael Maxwell and her 2 grandchildren, Meadow Byers and Archie Byers both of Clarion. Cathy is also survived by her 4 brothers, Gary Byers and his wife, Stacey, of Sheffield, Robert Adams and his fiancé, Robbie, of Tylersburg, Jack Byers and his wife, Marcy, of Sheffield, and Thomas Byers and his wife, Jen, of Warren; her sister, Kelly Smith and her husband, Brad, of Dayton; a sister-in-law, Lori Byers of Warren; and a brother-in-law, Eugene “Chicken” Wolbert of Lucinda; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her father, Cathy was preceded in death by her brother, Calvin “Eugene” Byers and her sister, Linda Wolbert. The Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion is handling the arrangements. Per Cathy’s request, there will be no public visitation or services.
