Robert A. Hartman

Robert Andrew Hartman, 101, of Curllsville, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, February 19, 2025, the day prior to his birthday, at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo surrounded by loved ones and family. Bob was born on February 20, 1923 in Monroe Township, son of the late Andrew F. and Berva Blanche Hartman. He was raised in Clarion County and graduated from Clarion Area HIgh School in 1942. On October 6, 1945, Bob and Kathryn L. "Kay" Corbett of Clarion, were married at the Missionary Alliance Church. Employed as a dairy farmer on the family farm in Curllsville from 1945 to 1973, Bob was active in the Soil and Water Conservation district. He received the Good Year Award in 1956 and 1957 for outstanding accomplishments in soil conservation and attended 5 national conventions for Soil and Water Conservation as a representative for Clarion County. As a board member of the Clarion County Farm Bureau, Bob served as secretary for 12 years. He also served on several local agricultural boards including Board of Directors of Clarion County Artificial Breeders Cooperative and the Clarion County Cooperative Extension Service. Bob and Kay raised 3 daughters on the family farm. He was a lifelong member of the Curllsville United Church of Christ, serving as a deacon and elder. Bob also worked as a tax assessor of Monroe Township for 6 years. After leaving farming, he was employed at Mayfield Golf Course for 2 years and then worked for 10 years at the Clarion County Career Center, retiring in 1986. Bob enjoyed volunteering at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and also at the Clarion Hospital for many years. His hobbies included leather work, gardening, traveling, coin and stamp collecting, reading and photography. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathryn, his brother, Paul Hartman, and his sister, Esther Swan. Bob is survived by his daughters, Carole Rimer, Pam Kahle and Sandra Bravar, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Bob will always be remembered as a loving husband and father, and a good friend and neighbor. He was a very social person who had a great interest in his family tree, family photos and personal family history. His favorite greeting to many was, “Where are you from?” He truly wanted to know. The Burns Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. in Rimersburg is handling the arrangements. His ashes will be interred at the Churchville Cemetery following a private family memorial service yet to be scheduled. The family asks that gifts in his honor be made to Clarion Forest VNA, 271 Perkins Road, Clarion, PA 16214. Lastly, the entire family would like to sincerely thank everyone who assisted Bob over the past few years including caregivers and friends. Special appreciation is given to the caring and professional staff at both Country Springs and Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
