Thomas J. Ragley

Thomas J. “Rags” Ragley, 80, of Clarion passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 of natural causes. He was born on December 2, 1935 in Punxsutawney; the middle son of S.A. “Sam” and Mary Helen Ager Ragley. Tom graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Erie in 1954. After high school he joined the Marines in 1954 and earned the rank of sergeant. He was married to Shirley Fagley on September 26, 1959; who survives. Tom was Co-Owner and operator of Ragley’s Bowl Arena with his father Sam and brother Dave for 43 years retiring in 1997. He was active in numerous community functions where he was known for his humor and words of wisdom and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. Tom umpired baseball for over 22 years. He participated in the Clarion Area Football Chain Gang for 20 years. Tom was also a ranger at Clarion Oaks Golf Course for many years. He even tried his hand at racing in Knox at Sportsman’s Speed Way and was an avid Nascar fan. Tom bowled multiple 300 games throughout the years and he also enjoyed hunting. He was a member of the American Legion Post 66 and the Moose post 101 both of Clarion. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Terri Corbett and husband Tim of Clarion, one son, Tim Ragley, a special friend Terresa of Knox, he is also survived by four grandsons, Logan, Tanner, and Ian Corbett all of Clarion, and Scott Ragley of Knox, one brother, Frank Ragley and wife Pat of Shippenville, sister-in-law, Barb Ragley of Clarion, and his second constant companion, Cinder, his cat. Tom is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dave Ragley. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 and also from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion post 66 at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 in the Funeral Home Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarion with the Rev. Samuel G. Bungo pastor of Saint Charles Catholic Church in New Bethlehem. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 and also from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion.
